The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Genetics Counselor to provide care for VA members and their families. Genetics counselors are health care professionals who have specialized education and training in the field of medical genetics. Using family history, a genetic counselor will assess individual or family risk of an inherited condition, such as a genetic disorder or a birth defect. Genetic counselors educate patients and professionals about genetic diseases and genetic testing options. They also advise patients on the social and ethical issues associated with a genetic disorder or a genetic test result and help patients cope with a diagnosis of a genetic disease. Key Responsibilities: Conduct genetic risk assessments and evaluate family histories to identify potential genetic conditions. Provide clear and accurate information about genetic testing options and their implications. Support patients in understanding test results and their impact on health and family planning. Offer emotional support and counseling to individuals and families facing genetic concerns. Collaborate with healthcare providers to integrate genetic information into patient care. Stay informed about advancements in genetics and genetic testing technologies. Maintain detailed and confidential patient records. Educate patients and the community about genetic conditions and preventive measures. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: Candidates must be board certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in biology, social sciences, or another related field. Master of Science degree from an accredited graduate program in genetic counseling. Physical Requirements: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. Other Special Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. Compensation/ Min: $28hr Max: $55hr Benefits - Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
